Metl-Span Green Building

LEED SUPPORT

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design "LEED®" was created to:

-Define "green building" by establishing a common standard of measurement
-Promote integrated, whole-building design practices
-Recognize environmental leadership in the building industry
-Stimulate green competition
-Raise consumer awareness of green building benefits
-Transform the building market

Metl-Span insulated metal wall & roof panels help contribute to accumulation of LEED® points for project certification in the following areas:

Sustainable Sites
Credit 7.2 - Exterior Design to Reduce Heat Islands
Metl-Span insulated metal roof panels meet the requirements for low-slope roofing. They have an initial solar reflectance of 0.68 and emissivity of 0.90 with a Polar White exterior skin color. Metl-Span insulated metal roof panels are also available in a variety of colors meeting the solar reflectance requirements for steep-sloped roofs of > 2:12.

Energy & Atmosphere
Credit 1 - Optimize Energy Performance
Metl-Span III insulated metal wall & roof panels provide the best R-values available today. R-values range up to 48 with a 6" thick panel, when tested at a 75°F mean temperature and increase as the temperature falls.

Material & Resources
Credit 1 - Building Reuse
Metl-Span panels are lightweight yet structurally strong and span greater distances between steel supports, thereby reducing the amount of structural steel required in the building. They may also be installed on existing structures with little or no additional support needed.

Credit 3 - Resource Reuse
Metl-Span insulated metal panels can be disassembled, moved and reused.

Credit 4 - Recycled Content
The steel faces of Metl-Span insulated metal panels are 23% to 26% post consumer and industrial recycled content.

Credit 5 - Regional Materials
Metl-Span panels are manufactured in 3 strategically located plants: Lewisville, TX, Prince George, VA, and North Las Vegas, NV.

Indoor Air Quality
Credit 7.1 - Thermal Comfort
Building envelope designs incorporating Metl-Span insulated metal wall & roof panels, in conjunction with energy efficient HVAC equipment, can provide the maximum thermal and humidity control to create a thermally comfortable environment. The performance tests conducted on Metl-Span panels relating to this credit include thermal, air and water tests.
